Household Integration Information

We look forward to working with you and your dog in Household Integration lessons at your house.  Please note, we have a ‘no cancel’ policy for your lesson appointments. If you are unable to make the lesson, we ask that you please email your trainer, Diane Blackman or LuAnn Charbonneau  at least two (2) hours before your lesson as a courtesy so we are not waiting for you at your appointment.

Unfortunately, we can only wait for a client for 10 minutes from the start of an appointment time. After that, clients will be considered no show and trainers may leave the lesson site.

What to Expect at Your First Lesson:

We’ll be setting everything for success in this lesson! We’ll be working with your dog(s) on the elevated bed as well setting up the management need to keep everyone safe until your pets are ready to be around each other! Please ensure your dogs (or your dog and cat) are not in the same room at the same time when your trainer arrives. There will be lots of excitement with your trainer’s arrival and this can often cause things to escalate to dangerous levels. If required, please ensure your dog is muzzled. Please work several times prior to your first lesson to muzzle train your dog. Check out our muzzle conditioning video.

You’ll need:
  • Treats – Lots of soft, small high value treats. High value treats include REAL chicken, REAL steak, and REAL liver (NOT STORE BOUGHT TREATS). Your treats must be better than your dog reacting!
  • A pouch or apron for dog treats
  • Nylon, cotton, or leather collar and a 3 to 4-foot leash. Retractable leashes are great for exercising dogs but not for training.
  • Make sure your dog has a chance to relieve himself/herself before our lesson
